Hello!
A group of us went out on Rainmaker on Memorial Day and had an absolute blast, catching fourteen nice coho. I"m a longtime angler, but definitely new to this type of fishing. I recently got a Lund Impact 1775 and it seems like it would do OK out on the big lake. Any advice I might be able to get on getting her rigged would certainly be appreciated. I'd love to see some pics if anyone has a similar small boat like mine.

I was very impressed with the amount of information sharing going on over the radio while we were out there and this site seems super friendly and helpful as well.

Welcome to the South End! This is a great group of fisher-folk and extremely free with information to help figure out how to catch fish in the area. I started fishing (and still occasionally do) in my 16' Alumacraft. Your biggest concern is to watch the weather. On the Resources page are links to many of the best sources of info, but the Michigan City Buoy is an invaluable resource.

Hope to see you on the water!

Welcome! Get some leadcore or copper line some church tackle planer boards for those long lines. Grab at least 2 downriggers with 10 to 12lb balls, a couple dipsey divers, attach them to braided line rods and you will have a very quick 6 rod spread at least. 2, 2, 2.

Welcome aboard. Make sure you have a good compass, marine radio, flares, a good anchor with a lot of rope to anchor, fire extinguisher and of course life jackets. Also a GPS & fish finder showing depth is also a big help. Sometimes fog rolls in and sometimes engines & out drives stop working. Don't assume that a boat coming at you especially at high speed will see you.

Welcome - I have an alumacraft 175 so basically the same size boat as yours. Below is my setup currently (taken last month). I am using Cauliflour Downrigger mounts for the down riggers (not sure if they make anything for Lund), High Seas trees in traxtech mounts. My downriggers are used manual Big Jons and the center seat post mount is from cabelas. Running 9 poles is the most I can go and it can get hairy. I recently switched to using big boards rather than inline planars and that allows me to get more lines spread out nicely.

Welcome! If you go into the classifieds section my old boat is listed there with some photos of it all set up. 2010 tracker is the subject title. It was pretty tight all rigged up but it caught fish!! Good luck and tight lines!!!!
