I'd look shallow very early in the AM if you are out then, and then if you don't find any there head out deeper.

With water 71.5 from the surface down to 39 feet, and the thermocline at about 45-50 feet (as of 10:30 monday morning) I would probably be looking in 40-45 feet

I heard an "ok" report out of New Buffalo from yesterday, couple guys fishing in 42-50 feet

So once the thermocline sets, where ever it’s at is where someone should start looking for perch? I truly don’t know this so I’d love to learn something new thanks

it's not a hard and fast rule, but once the surface temps get into the 70s, frequently the perch are found just inside the thermocline.   Such as if the water is in the 70s down to 30 feet, and then 65 at 35 feet, and 49 degrees at 45 feet, i'd look in the intermediate temp zone (the 60s) in the 35 foot range. Often they concentrate there. But not always.
