Is the wind ever going to turn South or West? Just finished a string of 6 off. Not one day worth hitching up the boat. Steelies are still thick in the creeks, but getting a little long in the tooth and the water has really dropped so past 3 days found me on the pier. Fish are definitely around. Plenty of coho and browns with a few whites in the mix to keep it fun. Un cured steelhead spawn on the bottom has been my M.O. for the most part, but crawlers shrimp and squid are all taking a few fish. Bobbers are working but with the whites around, bottom has been where I’m at. It all came together for me this morning. Brought home 5 hos and 2 nice whities, release a nice chunky 5lb or so browny too. Phone stayed in the pocket on the pier. Not sure if this is better than a cooler shot or not lol...

I opted for another day on the Pier Wednesday. The boat was whining at me like a sad puppy as I loaded up my spinning rods and cooler for the day. I got to the pier just after first light and was not alone. I was surprised by the conditions, completely flat calm and the water was CLEAR. It was a slow day out there. I fished all day from about 7-5 and ended up with 2 coho, 2 browns, and 1 precious whitefish. Steely skein on the bottom took the white, a brown and a coho, a small homemade spinner and a 1/4oz cleo both in brass/gold and orange took the other brown and coho.

My “rig”

No justice, but a nice white. I’d guess 23 inches and close to 3lbs

My handy work with the filet knife. A nice multi colored palette bound for the smoker.
