My buddy Jeff went fishing with me a couple weeks ago. We caught a mixed bag of Coho, Kings, and a Laker. He had never had Lake Trout before and wanted to try it. He took a king and laker and I kept the king and coho. He smoked the lake trout with the king and said it was delicious. He used brown sugar and koshar salt for the brine and mid-cook, he basted it with garlic butter, lime, and honey. I told him to get on here because this site is awesome! Anyway hope this helps.

Thank you, this site has helped me so many times, from learning how to fish for these awesome fish, where to go, how to cook them, etc. I had no idea about the fish not surviving. I will defiantly keep that in mind in the future. I will have to bring some home next time and try the smoked recipe and the deep fried. I also have some co workers that would probably take them. Headed to Manitoba today for some walleye fishing. I guess this lake has some huge lake trout in it, but we never go out and target them, just focus on the walleye, pike and perch.
