Yeah, it works perfectly.

Put it on just far enough up the line so the board doesn’t smack the fish when it stops at the bead and you’re golden.
The all you have to do is set the tension on your board to let go and you never have to worry about losing a board.

Hmmmmm...I don't see why that wouldn't work also. The reason why we use the OR 16 clip on the back is for being able to have the board release on the long lines because thats a far way for the board to slide down on a 10 color lead core. I can see putting the bead right above the connection to the lead core and the board above that so the board only slide down to the bead at the same spot the clip would hold it anyways. The big question is does this bead work with braid?

Gotcha. Braid is almost a must with the sam's pro release as I am finding out. I started swiching all my board rods to braid because to release the board just like a dipsey the stretch in the mono doesn't allow the board to release easy.
