If you ever want to be really frightened, go to Walmart the evening before the firearms opener. The orange army descend and buys ammo, tags, scent, camo, just about everything hunting related. All to be used the next morning. I’m fortunate that I have private ground to hunt. There isn’t a snowballs chance in hades that I would hunt this weekend on public ground. If you do, please wear more orange than the state requires, and be careful! Every year accidents happen. Good luck fellow hunters.

My firearms season ended Saturday morning.I was blessed with a top 5 lifetime buck. He’s 11 points, split browtines, and a crab claw. Weight was 168 dressed. Absolute giant.

So it is that time of year. Here's my sons buck. It's a pretty nice 1 for the area we hunt. The other pictures are what I've been doing since he shot the buck. We made 20# of brats, 20# of summer sausage and 20# of Italian sausage (not pictured) So far it was a good opening weekend for us. I shot a nice doe & my grandson shot his second deer ever. We are planning another trip this weekend so me & my grinder will meat again.

WildKat, very nice and congrats. Eopperman13 also a very nice one, and congrats to you also.
Rain all day today and possibly Sunday so it's getting down to crunch time for us now.

I been hunting one buck this season and thought I had him last night. He did show just to late for a good shot so hopefully I do get a crack at him. Farmer has been seeing him but always after shooting times.
