Nice job, this is the first year I found them in my front yard lol. Usually I have to walk a few 100 ft lol.
We had some in the pork chops with onions too.
They freeze just fine also.

I checked an "early" tree yesterday. Nothing there. I'll bet I can start collecting them in a week.

Its a little early really for me, I find usually I find them right before you hear the mention of that first frost.
And we need some rain for the big push lol.

How does the mushroom know when the first frost is coming. We've had plenty of rain here in Newton County to make them grow. Wet year is better than dry, but I've found some in the driest of years.

LOL it doesn't but for 20 yrs now I pick them around that time.

Tom they should start popin in your neck of the woods after this rain and cool down. My son Jim found some that were still in good shape. We canned them, and are now on the hunt again. My wife and I put up around 60 pints last season and we were down to our last 10 pints before this last bunch.

Not much rain down here but I did see 1 small start tonight. Need more rain or a tractor bucket full of water B)
