Good afternoon all,
I’m hoping this question can be answered simply. We fished 87th street Saturday and did decent. Our problem was finding an open bait shop that had minnows. Stan’s was closed Saturday and we ended up going back to Freddy bears in Tinley (as we saw how busy it was and grabbed the boat anyway). Ultimately we bought feeders from the pet store to fish for the day. Where is everyone going in the morning to get live minnows? Thanks

Anglers ave it’s on Cicero and like 151st ish. A quick google search will pull up there address. You have slez in lake station indiana. I know there are more but not sure who or where they are located.

Pickings are thin it seems and for the most part we leave out of St. John so Stans is usually our only option. This weekend we’re leaving from Tinley so we will have to try anglers on Cicero. Thanks

It would be nice if the gal at Stans would be there when she says that she's going to be there. You call, she doesn't answer, she calls you back and says she'll be there, you go and she's not there. Nice, real nice.

I️ couldn’t agree more. I’m not trying to speak poorly of Stan’s but it’s literally the only bait shop I hit from St. John to the pond. It seems they have all closed up and we have a lone survivor that’ carries inconsistent hours. On the other note Petsmart and petco have Rosie feeders for about 1.80 a dozen and we limited out on decent perch with Rosie’s and feeder gold fish haha.

Slez's in Lake Station, just off 94 is open 365 days a year. where else are you going to find that? He's been there for 30 plus years and can put you on fish anywhere.

I second that. It may be a little out of the way but you are not going to beat Slez. Not only is he a great guy and have what you need; you go to get minnows and say I want 3 dozen, he does not count them out he just throws a bunch in the bucket. I am pretty sure I get way more then I ask for each time. AND they are not half dead. I kept some alive for 3 weeks in a bucket with an air pump and some gold fish food.

Cabelas does not have any minnows.

The place to go is Slez's for sure. He is open bright and early - 5am, 365 days/yr, has 3 different size perch minnows and really just about any live bait you want for that matter. Aside from that he has the core tackle we all need for both perch and salmon fishing.

Their minnows are very, very small. Hardly big enough to hook. Call first and talk to someone in the fishing department so they can actually check stock. The people on the phone up front will tell you they "carry" minnows, you go there only to find out that the tanks are empty and delivery is 3 days out.
