What do you say to a good friend when he says, " Gotta go in around 9am. Be my luck that is when the fish will turn on."

Some might think its Rude to coax that person to leave a little sooner, if thats what is needed to get them to bite right? :S

Shortly after my buddy Bob pulled lines and went in did we then get a double. Lost one and landed one. Nice steelie with a number of 3 inch perch in his belly.

Missed a few others as they screamed the reels. As soon as my wife got hold of the rod the fish were gone. And we managed to get a few sheep that were politely returned to the lake.

I'm glad you released the gaspergoos. I've decided they are a trophy fish only. Though they make wonderful fish dinners, so do blue marlin and muskies. Large and smallmouth bass are very tasty as well. But to maintain the fishery, all of these - including the 'goos - need to go back to eat mussels and fight another day.

We took 9 yesterday and they were all released. Just got to watch where you put your fingers when you come up under the gills. Went 4-10 on steelheads when we were not hook up with a goo. They seem to fight better then a laker, and they feed on mussels which could help the lake out and better the alewives population just need them to feed on lakers eggs in the fall, go gooos. Mike

I was hoping that once Bob left it would mean a couple more fish for us too but my son and I perfected the "release" side of the "catch and release" equation. Went 2-5 and amazingly we were able to stick the goo's but the Steelies had us beat. Best was chartreuse and green stinger on 200 copper.

Maybe next time Luck!! We had a hard time staying hooked up as well today. We went 2 for 6 on the Steelhead and released 5 goo's.

Told Bob the same thing. We had some action as soon as he left! lol ....sorry Bob
We were 7-11 and additional 8 or so goos. The 7 yr old got lots of practice!
After 1 1/2 hour mid day doldrum, decided to pack it up. My two buddies each had a planer board they were reeling in down the shoot when a steelie about jumped in the boat off a rigger. THEN, 3 additional rods fire. Yes, 4 screaming fish on. The fellas didn't know what to do with the lines that were half reeled in behind the boat. It was organized chaos!! This is how it ended. The 7 yr old was battling one on his own while the others were each fighting a fish, steering the boat, and trying to get the two lines in that were in the way behind the boat. Well, two of the steelies crossed and cut each other off taking one of my favorite spoons, an old Hedon red and black spots (can't find these anymore). This spoon took 5 of our 11 steelie bites. We finally landed one of the steelies and the 4th fish was a 10 lb screaming goo that just wanted to ad his two cents in the mix. It was crazy!!
