When you start thinking of gaspergoos as fish - every bit as natural to the Lake Michigan ecosystem as lake trout, you weren't blankety blank. You caught three fish!

Mike, when I'm targeting salmon and trout, I don't count sheep head or any other non targeted species. If I'm going for trout/salmon and don't catch any....I'm skunked!

Sheepshead and carp are a step up from gobies Gerry. Gobies are are on about the same level as catching night crawlers, maybe a little lower. Sheepshead are in the fat girls category for me. If you're desperate, they can be a fun ride, but don't tell your friends and for the love of God, no pictures.

When I have 7 yr old on board...or a guy who never caught a fish before, I'd say a drum is better than nothing. But otherwise, they are on the line of a mosquito. They are part of the ecosystem but i don't enjoy them. Don't mean to throw anyone under the bus or be disrespectful like I may have sounded toward Mike, but I personally don't care to catch em or deal with them. If I'm after salmon, I'm not gna act like I still had fun catching drum. There are plenty of huge carp out there that probly been there longer than the drum and salmon, yet I don't here anyone on this sight targeting them or being proud to catch them. The name of this thread is "Salmon/..not sheepshead or whatever else you catch. So when I report 0/0...then that means I blanked on trout/salmon...So why do I report the sheepshead and post pics of sheepshead....maybe I shouldn't! Personal preference push come to shove and I should and will for now on respect how others feel about the matter...apologies to anyone offended!

No offense, and my original post about the 'goos counting as fish was meant to be tongue in cheek. I'm certainly not targeting them but they do break up the monotony when the silver fish are scarce. And I don't have to clean them. I tell the people, "You can keep it if you wish, but most people release them because they eat the zebra mussels in the lake." Next to Asian Carp, zebes are the most famous invasive species in the lake and everyone has been trained to hate invasive species, haven't they?

Let me name a few others: round goby, alewife, king salmon, coho salmon, brown trout, steelhead.....
