I've caught either a splake or coaster brook trout twice. You have to get down to counting wrinkles on internal parts to tell the difference. One of them, the customer had mounted, but the paint job on the mount doesn't look like the real thing.

It actually looks better. Think about a stream brown, all brown with red dots with white circles. Then think about a "lake-run" brown - all washed out silver with black spots.

On the other hand, if the splake were stocked as late as 2008, that's not out of the question to still have some of them around. Not even a teenager, yet.
