After reading all the bad reports, I tried to talk myself out of going to the lake but decided to go try New Buffalo Sunday afternoon. Set down in 120ft and marked fish right away. Water temp was good at 85 ft, so down went the lines. Ended up catching five fish, four Lakers and a nice King around 14 lbs.The King hit a Spin Doctor/ Fly combo down 85 ft. on rigger. Two Lakers were released and three fish made the ride home. One of the Lake trout was a 35 inch bruiser that must have weighed close to 25 lbs. It hit a Moonshine spoon as I released it from the rigger set at 105ft to quit for the night. Took over 30 minutes to convince it to come to the surface. The lake was flat until time to head back to shore of course and no flies - all in all a good trip.

I personally like LTs on the grill with nothing more than Lowry's Seasoning and pepper. They are excellent in Fish Boils aka Door County style. If you are a smoked fish fan, lakers are good that way.

I agree and think Lakers are great eating. Not real excited about eating the big slobs but nothing wrong with 3-7 lb fish in my opinion.

People bitch alot but IMO I agree, they are pretty decent table fair. First laker I ever did I cut into strips and deep fried. I was impressed. I have never grilled or smoked one yet, going to have to try that some time.

I’m just st so spoiled with our coho, I rarely eat anything else. But last month I was up in Little Traverse and figured I’m bringing the boat all this way, I’m not packing fish with. We ended up keeping a couple Lakers because it was all we could catch. Did the boil thing with corn, onions, carrots, potatoes, and a ton of butter, lemon and Old Bay. Everyone loved it.
