Nice job. Those are some good looking fish. Nothing more fun than a surprise king in the spring.

That’s a great catch of coho salmon. Plus you got a big king! Congrats and thanks for the report.

Nice work Steve.  What kind of line were you using?  I remember a few years I put on all new line.  I tinkered with PLine Fluoroclear.  Got snapped off by 8 kings in the Classic.  Went back to Blood Run Mono and Fluoro and have not had a line failure since.

Jeff it was 12lb trilene xt and actually my walleye rods. I’m leaning more towards user error as my crew kept trying to muscle the bigger fish into the boat. You are not going to flip a 20+ inch coho into the boat. They have fished all their lives but trolling isn’t their forte.
Fish on!

I used to be one of those Bass Guys haha.  I remember early on trying to horse an upper teens king into the boat in under 30 seconds.  It did not turn out well

Same here, and me too! Cranking that drag down to near the breaking strength of the line, wondering how I lost so many fish, haha. You get used to skipping bass across the top of the water, a salmon says hell no.
