I hit a very popular section of stream today for a few hours and had some pretty good action. I went 2/2 on kings, 1 on a hot n tot, and the other on a thunderstick. Also went 3/3 on some other specimens. I've fished the creeks pretty hard for the 20 years and I've seen bass on occasion, and a few pike over the years, but never had a walleye encounter before. I talked to a couple guys at the parking lot who said they saw a guy with a walleye and I figured they were full of it or clueless. Walked down and sure enough the guy is there with about a 20" fish on his stringer. He didn't seem too surprised by it, but I sure was. I was fishing a good ways down stream when I ended up hooking one for my self. Came about 5 casts after my first king. 10 casts later I hooked the pike, then my second king came just a minute or two later. Pretty crazy day.

Nice pics and sounds like a great day fishing

If you were fishing where I think you were... there are decent walleye and pike and bass in a very localized area near there during the summer and early fall, which probably start spreading out once the temps fall. Seems like an increasing amount of hammer handle pike in southern LM tribs

I was fishing the East Branch in Burns Harbor. I've encountered bass down there fairly regularly, and every couple years a pike. But I've been fishing there pretty hard for over 20years and never seen a walleye, let a lone two in on the same day. I havent spent much time fishing Deep River, but i have heard form more than one person that walleye have been pretty common over there in the past few years. Won't be long until the old curmudgeon salmon guys start blaming them for the lack of kings...

Here's a nice male coho from today, fish weren't nearly as active but still nice to get some exercise.
