We had a dream years ago at the beginning of the Bacterial Kidney Disease days when the Salmon were all dying. We would trailer a boat to an area where the biggest Chinook Salmon in the world lived and we would use what we had learned fishing Lake Michigan to catch them. Originally we had planned to fish the Campbell River in British Columbia but were told by local guides there that we needed to go further north to River's Inlet. We removed the fuel tank from our 22 ' Carver and replaced it with a 90 gallon tank, ran a fuel line to the suburban and installed a fuel pump with an on and off switch so we could refill our vehicle from the boat while driving. It was a grueling mountainous trip to British Columbia where we ferried the truck and boat to Vancouver Island and then drove to Port Hardy on the northern most tip of the island where we would cross approx. 40 miles of ocean in the Pacific Northwest. There's a lot to this story but we were told at both ends we were certifiably nuts and wouldn't make it but we did.

Man that sounds like one of the old Curt Gowdy American Sportsman adventures I used to watch when I was a kid. Loved sitting and watching with my late father and talking about making a trip of a lifetime like that. Really awesome.

I wish we had movies but we don't. We took a real nice 35 mm camera along to take pictures and none of the film turned out. Luckily I had an instamatic camera that spit out pictures as you took them or we wouldn't have had any pictures at all. At the entrance to the inlet there was a floating sign claiming they had the world record for the largest Chinook ever. It was caught commercially and weighed 126 lbs.

After seeing Ed's news photo I started looking through the old pictures and thought I would share.
