Sad time. Everyone believes their buddy was the best - and they're right.

Thanks to all it's is so hard. For 16 years I have had the most beautiful, most loving, and super smart dog. Chloe was a Boykin Spaniel. We got her down in southern Indiana and she was only number 68 in the state.
I trained her myself. She took so easy to training and in short order she was well trained for whistle, and hand signals. Chloe never new she was a dog. she never played with another dog.
What a hunter, we still had quail on our farm when she was young and they didn't stand a chance. Her nose was unbeatable. If she said she had a bird in there you better believe it. Her first retrieve on a Pheasant was such a site. It was a bird that really got up with the wind behind him. Everyone shot and who ever had the last Hail Mary shot downed the bird. The bird had so much speed behind him that he sailed before hitting the cut corn hard. Now at least 100 yards out. When Chloe grabbed the bird across the breast the bird spread it wings open blocking Chloe eyes from seeing me for the retrieve. So I just kept a lite whistle tone going for her to home in on and that proud little brown fur ball brought the bird all the way back and laid it at my feet.
A year later I lost my ability to walk and found out that I had MS. Chloe helped me learn to walk again. Our hunting days and those long walks for birds were over.
She was always at my side. Maybe you saw us in Bass Pro, or down at the boat docks.
Chloe found me I didn't find her. When I looked at the littler she was always coming to see me when the others were just being pups and fighting with each other. When I turned he upside down and held her she did not fight me, she was totally at ease in my hands. That was all I needed and she became mine. Letting her go is so tough and I'm crying aging as I write this. I brought her home to her home and she was given a nice spot in the yard that she liked to frequent. Thanks for letting me carry on, still heart broken.

I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. Try as you might to keep them in perspective they work their way into your heart and mind. It takes a while for it to happen but the problem is and was for me, it takes longer for the love and the memories to fade. I still have fond memories of Belle even though Roxie lives in my home and mind. Even though I enjoy having my dog I have vowed to my self that there will be no more. Its tough to live though that stuff.
Again I am sorry for your loss.

Love comes in many different forms and our pets are part of the family for a lot of us. When they live with us for 10 to 15 plus years we've created lots and lots of memories. Totally understand how you feel. I think we have 12 in our pet grave yard.

Sorry for your loss!

God Bless
