East Chicago Marina - 3301 Aldis East Chicago, IN - Lake County - Indiana
Harbor and Public Launch Ramps Closed
November 29, 2016 through May 29, 2017
We are excited about the construction for the removal and replacement of our floating dock system. For safety reasons the harbor and the public boat launch ramps at the EC Marina will remain fully closed for the duration of the project. We hope to be able to open our public launch ramps by Friday, May 27, 2017 for the Memorial weekend holiday.
We encourage non boating fisherman to fish from the beach side nodes during this construction period (on the other side of Ameristar).
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our office.

Pushed back a month from what the original complete day was I believe. So much for that ramp for at least half the year anyway. Thanks for the info.
It's better to ask forgiveness than for permission.

Of course this is in direct violation of Indiana code 14-13-8-1 which mandates the marina to provide boat launching for Indiana citizens. Law doesn't provide exceptions. Any lawyers here or someone with enough money to hire a lawyer to enjoin the City of East Chicago and force compliance?

Poked my head in there yesterday. I was shocked. I actually saw guys WORKING!!! They had about half the pilings pulled from between the fishermans pier and the harbor mouth. They also have done a lot of excavation along the shore between the launch and the yacht club, assuming there redoing the utilities there. Interesting enough the bar seems to still be open at the yacht club. The ramps themselves have not been touched and the piers are still in place. It would not take much to at all (actually nothing) to allow us access to the ramps and parking in the outside lot. Wind made fishing more of a chore than a pleasure so I only stuck around about a half hour.
