MWA PERCH DERBY

The MWA’s Annual Perch Derby is August 26th, with August 27th as the blow day. We will be launching out of New Buffalo, Mi. We will fish from 8am-2pm check in is 7:00am-7:30am eastern time, in the parking lot. We will measure the fish at New Buffalo High School afterwards. The High School is located at 1112 E. Clay St. This is a bragging rights derby with $10 per boat for the big fish pot. You may fish with as many people in your boat as law allows. The ramp fee is $12. You don’t have to be a member to join in, so tell your friends. If any questions call Rick Nichols @ (574) 993-1913. Hope to see you there.

I always just buy a 1 day license for $10 for the day. Its a great chance to learn that area, most of the boats pretty much follow each other around so you can follow and learn the area.
Its a great time hopefully the weather cooperates.

The way the perch has been going from reports I've seen, catch one, you are in the money, two you are a contender and three is the champ.

We knew it was going to be tough and it was, they seemed to be showing up late afternoon we started marking alot of smaller
schools following the bait. 45 ft was the best range north of the harbour-red roof area. Had I think 12 boats show up, flattop, icecleat, and others.
Bro and friends won it with (went by 3 biggest fish) (and biggest fish) being 13 1/2, 12 1/2 and 11 inch, I believe was correct. Great day to meet new contacts
and others that share the sport. The winners fished farther north same depth range. We started in 50 to 70 ft, got first fish in 64ft of water.
We caught 8 and kept 4, winners had I think 16 fish and are from South End site and were past winners from the Coho Tourneys.
good time had by all with sausage, crackers and some time sharing afterwards.
