Michigan DNR 2023 stocking plans for Lake Michigan:
1,000,000 Chinook salmon
300,000 Brown trout
650,000 yearling Steelhead
1,580,000 Coho salmon

How's that coho stocking compared to previous years?  Seems like it used to be 2-million plus.  Is that right or is the 2+ number the total from all the states?  Old brain at work.

Previous 3 years was right at 1.5 million, didn't go back any further than that

Your close Mike, it wasn't that long ago Michigan was up to 1.8 then cut to 1.5, then to 1.3. 

Good to see those Coho numbers going back up.

Thanks! That two million figure that was stuck in my head must be the lakewide total from what IL, IN and WI stocks their waters.

And a BIG THANKS to Michigan!  I've not seen the creel numbers but from what I gather cohos probably give Michigan people the least bang for their buck. Without their input, catching cohos would be incidental here in Indiana, most likely in Illinois and would certainly affect southern Wisconsin as well.
