Went out to south Bend to fish the st joe, mostly cuz of the nasty weather today, for some smallies. Caught quite a few small bass and rock bass casting cranks drifting along the shore. My dad nailed a pair of nice smallies at 16.5" and 17.75" back to back, all the fish I got were in the average catagory of 9"-12".

Fishing the river is always fun. Cranks and tube rigs always work well. I have fished the stretch by the IUSB bridge and had good smallie success. What area were you fishing? See any Kings or Steel?

Noah I remember that conversation earlier this summer. Baron, iusb is where we launched from, I call it home away from home! Didn't see any salmonoids jumping but the river was so clear, flowing, and cool I would bet they're around. When I go in the fall I try to throw hotntots and wiggle warts for the bigger bass but also cuz I've had good luck getting a steelhead to bite on them.
