Took a trip down the White for some winter steelhead and to try out a new fishing transportation mode.  Picked up a one person pontoon to float the local rivers up here and finding it is a great way to experience some winter steelhead fishing.  Most of the hookups that were landed were on spawn under a float.  Also had action on beads and jigs with spawn or waxies.  Best fish for me for the day was a 10# buck double strip steelie.

Looks like a great time! Do you fish from the toon, or stop and wade?

You can fish from them with the anchor system but 90% of the time we stop and wade when we are in the river.  Makes it easier to chase fish if you get a rambunctious fish on and need to go after it.  We will throw them in the pond every so often and fish from them.  The wife has a blast getting pulled around out of control when she hooks a nice bass.

Thanks Ed,

I keep pretty busy up here between work, the farm and all the outdoor activities.  It's hard to figure out which way to turn sometimes, fish, hunt, go for a ride in the woods, mend fence, mow the yard and pastures, it just never ends.  Notice I didn't mention clean the house, my wife reminds me of that very often, lol.  I spend a very little bit of time on a couple of Mi sites and I will try to remember to post a few reports here too for those of you that would like to take a trip farther North.  We would be a little over 3 hours north pulling a boat.  I missed the coho this year but we did do fairly well on Kings and Steelhead in the limited trips I was able to squeeze in between family functions last summer.  Good thing almost everyone is married or graduated now might free up some big lake time for me this summer.

Jeff, if you come down this spring let me know ahead of time. It would be nice to tear up some of the same water again. I am still in the same spot at the marina.
