Hay guys have trouble with my minnkota 80 lb 24 v I-pilot , it’s 8 yrs old ,it won’t run. Try everything, tested at the plug getting power. It will try left and right just won’t run. Remove the fuse and went direct to battery. Reinstall the original head still won’t run. Any ideas,

I would fathom a guess that there is either an issue with the motor itself or a internal relay, connection, or board that is bad.

Have you tried running it with the remote with the foot pedal disconnected entirely? I would try that, just to make sure something goofy is not going on with the foot pedal.

You have two options:
1) Tear it apart and start using process of elimination to get to the problem.
2) Take it to an authorized service center for repair - I think Westforth Sports in Gary is an authorized service center.

It would be helpful for many to know what the problem was in case they encounter something similar in the future. What was the diagnosis?

There are only a couple things that go bad on those trolling motors. My guess would be the control board but with the age of the motor possibly the brushes might be done. Interested minds want to know, lol. I think Erwins in Valpo is an authorized repair center also.

I had some issues with my power drive v2. In my research I read when the head will turn and the prop won’t spin it’s usually the board has gone bad

Follow up, the end result turn out to be brushes ,change out the complete brushes and plate. Motor working awesome.
