I spoke last night at the port authority meeting held at Portage city hall. It was to help shore up support for the fish cleaning station going in.
Also spoke on the history of Indiana's start in the Lake Michigan fishery. Portage became a city in 1968. Same year that the first Coho from Michigan made their 200 mile trek from Michigan to Indiana. Indiana also was the first to bring in a new fish to the summer fishery. The Skamania. Alot of history to report on for the new Mayor to get a good look at Portage. The history, the money injected into Portage's city, all the years that Portage has been part of this fishery. And how much money the state pulls in yearly from this fishery.
