Fished HCC Round 1 with my son and headed east towards Michigan City setting up just past the Pavillion in 50'. Ran four riggers between 30' - 40', 150' and 200' steel on the boards. Bit of slow pick for us, others in the area where doing better with quite a few coho in the area. We had to be careful about box with 10 fish max but weigh 5 and pretty much have to weigh 3 lakers. After we got 5 coho there hoping to find steelhead or king in the mix which we did not, headed offshore to the 65' - 75' depths and set for Lake Trout. Slow to begin with which was concerning but picked up another coho, small king that we released, and about 30 minutes later hit a triple of lake trout and between the two of us managed to land them all. One more laker just a we started wrapping as my son reached for the 200 rod and it went.
And the two jumbo perch that hit the 200 copper, went into my livewell and our now swimming in my koi pond at home....Good times and thanks to all organize and work these fun tourneys!
