usually a late sustained coho bite and higher lake levels this year
should be a good spring may be a little later ice out

More worried about what this much ice and cold will do to the alewife classes. Probably to early, but lots of cold and ice isn't good for our alewife recovery. It was going to good for a couple winters.

I believe this is exactly why the alewife is recovering

although I missed my New Years day fishing trip the last two years in a row other things the cold weather does to the lake have been a added advantage lake levels up and more alewife

I don't believe harsh winters and ice covered lake Michigan =more alewives...just the opposite is true I believe.
We had several mild winters in a row which significantly helped the alewife.
I'm hoping for mildness to set back in.
