Free fishing days announced
This year's four free fishing days are April 21, May 19, and June 2-3. Indiana residents do not need a fishing license or a trout stamp to fish in public waters on these days. Several fishing events will be going on throughout the state.

Thanks Ed,

Michigan has a free Fishing weekend coming up Feb 17 and 18 also if anyone was thinking about going to MI for some fishing would be a good weekend to plan a trip.

The only time I was "checked" by IDNR Law Enforcement last season was on a free fishing day out of MC

They were most likely out to see if anyone was taking advantage of the free weekend. That would be the only way to get a half way accurate estimate on participation.

I was checked a half dozen or so times on shore at different spots and only once one the boat. Checked once so far on the ice.

Ive been checked twice my entire life! The first was when I was 16 playing hookie from school fishing down at the kank, the second was a few years ago out in front of the donut trolling.

Surprisingly, the first thing the CO's did was ask to see licenses. Or course, my sarcastic buddy says; "what if I don't."
Fortunately, they were cordial and professional and did a quick safety check - flares, registration, etc. \
Also, Indiana free fishing days are for residents only - unlike any other state I've heard of.

I think different lakes get more attention.
I bet I've been checked 50 times easy in my life.
Probably more ice fishing.
