This is going to be a real old man observation but the number of cormorants I see flying southwards inland off the lake every day during my morning commute is staggering.  I'm seeing flocks south of Rt 30, even south of 231.  There was 100 circling a golf course low over the road the other day.  I find it very fascinating that they are looking in these small ponds for food when they're roosting on one of the largest lakes in the world.  I commute all the way to the lakefront daily, and at this point it seems I'm seeing more birds inland than I do here.  Just was wondering if anyone has been noticing a similar pattern lately.  It may change when the bait shows up.

Ya know, control of excessive cormorants has been "shelved" by both feds and state agencies in fear of the honking off the radical environmentalists. Besides, they are only affecting fish populations in Lake Michigan. The people who care about these fish are a small political demographic. Perhaps the cormorants heading down to private ponds and inland lakes to clean out those lakes will awake the voters and control will become important.
