All I can say is what a tough tough tough day. Probably one of the worst bites in quite some time. The radio sounded perilous lol.

I was aboard Plane To Sea today and we took 14 bites, but nothing would stick, except for a 5lb coho and a 13" shaker. We were in Michigan waters working 200 to 250 FOW. Bites were random so it is hard to comment on what worked best. 80% of the bites, the fish were off before we could get to the rod. A mag carmel dolphin probably took the most hits.

It was a bit rough going out as the north winds kicked up and we went out in 2-3 footers. The lake ended up laying down pretty nice though after a while. Great seeing the guys that came out - great to see some new faces.

I'm surprised you ran the tourney with waves 3.0 at the bouy at start time. Kind of takes the fun out of a fun tournament for guys in open bow boats, especially when the bite is 15-30 miles offshore.

You've cancelled them in less waves than that.

No offense, but would you have cancelled, or at least delayed it, if you were in the Stratos instead of a hard top?

My new boat stayed in the marina so that was not factor. I do not even have my equipment on it yet. We went out it 3's last year, and the stratos and the ranger led the way - so thats a non issue. It is disappointing to see that suggested.

We follow the same guidelines as the coho club, 3' and under its on, anything over and its off. It has been that since the beginning. We started in 2.8 (based in MI City Buoy) , were down in the ones by 10 or so. The waves were certainly worse than forecast to start, that was unfortunate and extremely disappointing to all of us. We do are best to make a decision the night before, so people dont waste their time coming out only to turn around and go home.

If it was 3 footers, and was likely to stay the same or get worse, then certainly we may have pushed it.
