Was massively disappointed to find out they decided to close the ramps at EC today. Was trying to squeeze one last minute trip to Gary before this cold snap hit. God knows if or when they're gonna finish. Had to close it today so one guy could walk around looking. Piers we're still in, but there was an excavator and an equipment trailer in the lot. I got a real bad feeling about all of this. Anyway until further notice it's Portage or Gary. Hope I saved some of you a headache.

That is disappointing. I asked the guard a couple weeks ago, he said we could launch all winter.

If indeed they are closed until May for this construction, they are going to lose a lot of fisherman's business!

The people at EC Marina remind me of a couple of school teachers I've known. Their motto was always: It's a nice place to work except for all the kids running around.

EC Marina is a nice place to work except for all those boaters! Now they've got rid of the boaters! What a Christmas present....

the city consul meetings will be interesting they lost money before they are kicking out about 500,000.00 worth of slip holders and the rent from the mobil marine shop and they are going to be renting kayaks to replace that income ?
by the time they pay the liability insurance for the kayak rentals they should be out of at least 1000000.00 in city revenue next year about this time
The marina used to have one director now it has three. one of the directors cant do steps so they are getting rid on the marine repair facility and making it city offices '
MARINAS AROUND HERE ARE ALL CONTROLLED BY CITY'S GOVERNMENT'S MAIN REASON THEY ALL THINK BOAT ARE FAT RATS AND THEY WANT TO GET SOME OF OUR MONEY
THEY REALLY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE AVERAGE BOATER/FISHERMAN GIVES UP TO OWN A BOAT
>THE NEW CAR
>THE BIGGER HOUSE
>THE VACATIONS

NOTE TO CITY GOVERNMENTS WE DO NOT HAVE MONEY TO THROW AWAY !!!!!!

I am beginning to think the new mayor in east chicago just don't like BOATER 'S or FISHERMAN

HE SUFFERS FROM THE FAT RAT MENTALITY
boaters and fisherman are not fat rats that have money to throw away !

I took a detour on my way home from work last week to check on the progress. Not much going on far as I can see. They have most of the side piers from the west side of the harbor piled up on the north launch ramp. No change whatsoever to the ramps themselves, haven't even pulled the piers. My guess is the ramps will be the last thing they touch so they can continue to use them to move stuff in and out. Looking at the pics you can see it wouldn't take much for them to give us use of one ramp during the construction. Maybe spring of 2018.

I drive by there a couple times a day in and out of the Mill and I do not ever see much work going on when I go by. The begining of Janurary I did see a couple boats out front and I cant see them coming from Portage or Hammond so maybe they are just being selective on the people they let use it.

For you EC guys. Maybe good news, I actually saw work going on today when I went past the marina. They had 2 Pickers going and sounded like they were driving some posts in there somewhere.
