I picked up a limit a week ago by gary light on joint raps and what I found in the stomachs while filleting them....was NOTHING! FIsh looking healthy and few had some size for a spring class but all five had empty bellies. I marked bunch of marks what I assume are bai bowls. Did tons of googling- nothing. Fish looking very healthy but being that predatory species should be loaded with forage- ales, shrimp or something. I know they spit some out while hooked and shaking but remains should be left. Any ideas??? Maybe coho in danger?

Going off the past couple years anyway that is very normal. Once the water warms up about 5 more degrees these coho will leave to find food. Which the last couple of years was way offshore to feed on blood shrimp. Then they return a few weeks to a month later when the baits moves in.

So is it only migration pattern that brings them by the shore? I noticed water temperature is even warmer at some spots in the middle lake.
How do they survive a month without food using energy to move around?

They are eating well don't worry about that. In the spring they are digesting the food so quickly that you do hardley ever catch cohos this time of the yr with full stomachs. Their metabolism changes throughout the year.

Appreciate your explanation, I couldn’t find an answer to this nowhere. Made my day knowing a fishery is healthy.
