It might seem as though the tribal fishing in northern Lake Michigan is an issue far away and has nothing to do with fishing here at the south end of Lake Michigan. WRONG - where do you think our fish come from?
Roughly half the cohos in Lake Michigan are stocked in the tribal fishing area and don't migrate to the south end until they are roughly the same size as the ciscoes, whitefish and other fish the Treaty fishermen will be targeting with their nets. Will they catch cohos? Bank on it. Will anyone have the moxy to do anything about it? Ha! Read he email I got and spot the group ten or twenty bucks. It's everyone's battle, not just theirs,,,,,

As information on the Tribal Consent Decree has unfolded and the Judge has allowed our sportsman group, Coalition to Protect Michigan Resources (CPMR), a 60 day window to appeal the ruling, our PSA Board has voted to continue supporting the effort of CPMR to voice our opposition of the Decree.
We are asking for your help to add to the support of this effort. Doing the appeal may not reverse the Decree, but it will firmly establish our concerns for the future of our LM resource and give precedence for future action if new gill net fishing being allowed does damage our sportfishing. CPMR biologists and attorneys have identified many issues with the decree that need to be challenged.
The appeal may cost up to $20,000, but if all our Michigan sportsmen can add some, we can continue the fight. Can you please consider supporting this effort - we can't give up !
