The realities of of the current economy - on top of a decades-old trend of print magazines in all genres having a hard go at maintainin profitability, has forced the management of Great Lakes Angler Magazine (and it's sister publication, Salmon Trout Steelheader) to discontinue publishing a paper and ink edition and go completely digital.  Basically, the cost of printing and mailing have skyrocketed at the same time that merchandisers are cutting their advertising budgets and concentrating their ad dollars in less costly digital opportunities.

A growing number of readers actually favor this and only get their news or read about their favorite subjects on their mobile devices, tablets or on computer screens. You can't even read a magazine at a barber shop or at a health-care facility waiting room any more.
The current issue is free to anyone to view. If you aren't a subscriber, click to the following address to see what you've been missing. Chances are if you like Lake Michigan fishing well enough to follow The South End, you'll like the information and stories in GLA magazine.

In fact, this fork in the road can lead to being able to easily distributing more of the information you'd like to get, on more topics and in a more timely manner. Check it out, give it a try.
