Sounds like walleye fishing has gotten better with fish being taken from Catawba to Huron. Night bite has picked up again but day bite has been very good also. Speeds are slowing up with best now 1.0-1.4. Looking at the weather, might try to get out there again next week.

I'm done open water fishing for the season and starting to focus on getting my ice gear together. This winter weather is just unpredictable. I would hate to see ya make the drive and have crappy weather. But this is the best time of the year to get many 10lb+ fish.

Looks like wednesday and thursday light southwest winds are perfect for that area. Temps moving up into the 40+, looks pretty good. Things stay like this they may not make any ice for some time yet. January walleyes with the boat sounds great. Hope the weather holds out.

yep, during the day deep husky jerks size 12 and 800 series reef runners and some custom painted shadraps size 9.

Seems like the fish are around 15-25ft. down. I think if the conditions were right you could sit on top of some of the fish and jig them with winter ice jigs. But we have been trolling. Some time s by Cranberry creek and other times west of Huron towards Catawba. The big females have to work their way back to the west basin thru that area. So all the fish you catch in that area are big females.
At night the fish have been moving in very shallow and we took fish in 7-12ft. of water. Trolled short lipped baits, and had light sticks on the boards. Looks pretty cool to see that board take off at night. Those are the fish that the ice fishermen are after. Well they arre there and theres no ice, none yet anyway, so may as well take advantage of some great walleye fishing. Should be good until ice come in.
