It was time for our spring Erie trip. We were hoping to find a jig bite but always welcome trolling too.
Thursday, the 9th, we decided to head out on my brother's brand new Starcraft 18'9" Superfisherman out in front of Turtle creek for some jig action. Well, we were greeted with chocolate milk..... nothing out front, but we were able to get my brothers boat propped correctly and it was nice just being on the water. Late Thursday our 3rd partner arrived to get ready for tomorrow's action.
There was a good amount of fish stacked over east of Kelly's Island and we joined the other 300 boats . Launching out of Mazuriks was nuts... the Lewt tournament was going on and the area was mobbed.
There was a brisk 18 - 20mph going out of the SW so it's was sporty out there. We put out Bandits 85-100 back and started getting the fish in short order. Saturday was the same but winds 10 mph out of the NE had the fish move a little easy but they were still there. Avoiding the mud and the clear water was key, if you stayed in the stained water, you stayed on the fish. Sunday we switched up to try and find a jig bite but we couldn't really get anything going.....I heard in the bar that tipping the jig with a minnow was key......I'll have to remember that for next year.
Overall good trip, quality fish, it was sporty but it's April and the Fishmaster handles it very well.
