My name is Michael and I just started making the trip from Indy to launch out of portage and try the big water. very moderate success so far but it doesn't take much to make a good day for me. Especially since I am normally used to just crappie fishing in the smaller lakes in central Indiana.

I have lots to learn for sure and appreciate that all of you contribute to this. Perhaps someone could tell me what "The donut area" is so that I can understand the fish reports.

The donut is near shore just east of the port of Indiana. If you go under the resources section of this site and click map there are a lot of point marked. If you click on them it will tell you what it is. As time goes by you will naturally start to remember these locations.
