Welcome, Lund 18 This is a great site and I keep reading but not been able to add anything (good or bad}. Never thought I wouldn't have time to get on the lake after retiring, but I think I have less time now! But it's all on great times being spent on other things. Rudey

Thanks all, and I hear you Rudey, I still have about 10 year to retirement but as we age everything takes twice as long to do. And I hope to be able to add comments and not just read the info posted . Last outing was on Erie and it was a rough (RU DOUBLE F) Thursday 6/11 was fishing north of Kelleys to the line. Started in the 30+ FOW north of Gull Island and was slow, moved around on the south side in 40FOW and got 5 Walleye and a bonus perch. I am 2- 2 1/2 hours drive time from anywhere E.C.M.,Portage,M.C,Catawba so all info is always THANKFUL .

I agree with Lund 18. This is by far the best site on the big lake. Thank you to all those who post and share information readily to help all fishermen on the this end of the lake. Wish I could get out more, but that 4 letter word "WORK" always seems to get in the way.

I was a Lake Erie virgin before last winters ice fishing. We fished west out of Catawba and I was hooked! I made it out recently to Erie and fished north of Wild Wings in the chocolate milk on June 2nd a.m. and fishing was very slow....(storms). Heard reports of cleaner water north of Catawba and fished the evening and next morning with crawler harnesses, and jet divers 20 & 30 behind small planers with cranks and did much better. Fished west of south bass and rattlesnake trolling back and forth up to green. Check out Western lake erie fishing reports and Rickards bait shop reports for up to date reports. Rickards sells top notch bait and always has good information on where to start. Hope to get out to erie soon if work slows a bit. I will post reports. Also looking for new place to stay near Catawba. The ramp/parking and closer proximity to more fishing spots is better than the ramps and lodging I stayed at near wild wings (IMO).

Thanks for the info on the previous post for lake Erie lodging etc... I will have to check them out!

Nick.

Thanks Nick, that is where we stopped to get bait was at Rickards bait shop . But did not know about there reports /Web site.
I too always went for the 1/2 hour shorter drive and launched at Fenwick to fish West Sister in the chocolate milk. So I am no help with any info on lodging around Catawba.
It has been 3 years now that we have been fishing the big pond and Love that Coho on the smoker it almost taste like ham. A lot nicer people and cleaner water. But that Walleye out of cold water is hard to beat too.
