So had Alumacraft replace my transom on the boat since it was showing an issue.   Got it back this weekend and was told the transom is now aluminum and no wood (YAY!!).   The Marina put the motors back on but I need to mount the ladder back on.   tapping on the transom it seems the left and right side are mainly hollow now (seems it is solid down the center and around the edges).  Anyway my question is the top two mounts for the ladder were bolted through the old transom but where I would mount them through now seems there is nothing between the outer shells.  Is it still fine to through bolt even though the middle is hollow (I am not sure if they have some sort of foam fill or anything in there, but tapping on the outer shell sounds hollow)?    If anyone has an Alumacraft newer than I believe 2016 it will have the same transom so if you have a ladder mounted maybe post a pic of how it is attached?  I am sure some of the marina guys on here may know for sure if it is hollow and if it is ok to through bolt.    Any help is always appreciated.  Just glad I got the boat back in time for Spring fishing.

Just curious- have you ever used the ladder?     I used to have a Tyee and it seemed like that ladder just got in the way . If you never use it I would just leave it off .

If the transom is hollow and your going to through bolt the ladder, after the holes are drilled can you fill the void with spray foam.  Should be solid enough for the weight applied to the ladder when in use.

Yes we use it regularly since this is not only a fishing boat.  Plus it comes off when we are fishing the big lake so it does not get in the way, only four small brackets remain on the boat when its removed.

Alumacraft installed aluminum transom for bolting outboards on a ladder is probably not an issue?

Are the holes where the ladder was mounted still in the outer skin?  There should be the new aluminum transom there that you need to drill through to Mount the ladder I would assume.

The entire transom is new, they replace the wood transom's with full aluminum so outer/inner shell and everything are new.    I ended up going through the transom and just making sure the bolts were reinforced on the outside per Alumacraft advise.     Thank you
