KIll, I know it's frustrating, but it's tough to ask for more than what he's giving out. If I told you near the Donut or on The Shoals, or off Lake Street or around Cal Park, or off Mt Baldy, it would instantly be a swarm of boats dropping anchors right on top anybody catching fish, and that SUCKS!!! Unfortunately the only way to hide from the A-holes out on the lake is to get out in the dark and be done before they show up. If there was a way to make your boat invisible out there, I'm sure he'd give you a general area. They're chasing the bait and I've found bait from Hammond to Michigan City in the past week. Commit to the hunt, find yourself a ball of baitfish or two in an are where you know the perch have been in the past and you'll get into them eventually. Yesterday was the first day I really put in time on them this summer and I struck out. Spent 6 hours between Cal Park and Buffington and only managed to get this future Jumbo while gathering Alewives.

I completely disagree.

When did perch fishing become more secretive than fishing for steelhead in the creeks? Even creek fisherman share more information than Charlie has been. The name of the creek and upper, lower or middle sections were all commonly shared on message boards or fishing reports and this basic information helps fisherman figure out a pattern, especially fisherman that may only be able to hit the water every couple weeks or so and are not able to follow the daily movements of fish. On that note, I am not even sure what state Charlie is fishing in.

The appealing part of this online forum has always been the open sharing of information and all of the lake and weather information that has been put all together for us to benefit from. I would think a Moderator of this board would post in the original intent of the site. Posting some generalities, other than it is early and there are not any other boats around, would not cause an armada of perch boats to descend upon his hallowed fishing grounds.

Fishing reports without any information are just bragging posts. Bragging posts are just a call for attention and boosting ones own ego.

On the bright side, the pictures are not photoshopped.

Safe Cracker,
Thank you for articulating my thoughts in the form of a well written response. Due to other obligations and responsibilities, my time on the lake is limited. Shared information is certainly apprated.

Respectfully,

Kill Shot

It all good. I wonder if cal park is happeneing? Thanks for info though.

We got some nice fish on Monday and Tuesday mornings. Bite dies by 10am. Get out there early and bring alot of bait. We went out only to look around and not knowing what to really expect. We ran out of 6dz large fatheads in about 2hrs. We couldn't work 2 rods at times the perch were just banging the bait by the time it hit the bottom.

Maybe if some people would read other posts and search a little they would get a free hand out? I myself and others really do appreciate all of the information you have shared in the Perch fishing forum since you started posting here. Put your time and burn some fuel like others here are doing and you might find a boat out there that you could drop anchor next to. I see a couple hundred views on each post but not many others sharing reports or much info at all. I have no need brag but finding a nice pod of Perch takes a little more talent than setting up 9 trolling rods and sitting down waiting for a fish to bite .... Well for one I am not fishing Illinois Perch (closed) and I am not driving to Michigan or Wisconsin everyday ....

The fact that I have not been perch fishing in order to contribute to this board does not invalidate my point nor does it preclude me from having an opinion. I'm not looking for a handout. I'm fully capable of fishing, even perching, on my own.

Also, just because some of us choose to troll does not make us any less of a fisherman.

You're jabs directed this way about looking for a boat to drop anchor next too are uninformed, presumptuous, and childish as expected.

Cool....

So search our forum and the gather some information throw your buddy a $100 for fuel and the launch fee and utilize the info your gathered and go out and find some fish just like I do! I post because I let others know there's some fish around and how my day went. I put up a few recent posts saying there's fish but I guess I should have also stated I have went out at least a dozen previous trips and came home with nothing. Just to the fact that I am a moderator in this forum doesn't mean I need to spoon feed handouts to guys like you that troll this Perch forum but noticed you have not posted once here a report or even a reply but seem to expect to be told where to fish. The info is here bud you need to just do your homework and send a PM and go from there. I fish with enough guys from this board and always help those in PM's that would like a little more information. I guess those are things you just don't understand .....

I think that any report is valuable. The level of detail is up to the user and more is always preferred over less without a doubt. Unfortunately the exception to the rule is often perch fishing. If it is summer and somebody finds perch off "the dunes", its easy to post where the fish are, as they are literally all over, just have to find the right depths and right schools for size.

Right now, perch are hard to find. If and when you do find them, the school is likely limited to a very small area, and your reward for all that work is constant action. The little bandits are probably in 1 of 5 or 6 areas, and just have to hunt them down.

I remember one weekday a while back I hunted for perch all day long, finally found them, caught a limit and made a post with location detail. The next day, 50 boats were on top of me a half hour after sunrise. I lost my peace and quiet as well as the fish I worked so hard to find as I have boats running into me, dragging anchors through my lines and so on.

A case of beer and a PM would probably go a long way in getting some intel ;) .
Boatless!
