My sister was up from Austin TX for a visit, so I took her out fishing yesterday. We were trolling around hoping to find some silver fish out in 40 - 60 FOW since the temp break set back up. Only ended up with a freshwater drum, which she got to reel in (not a complete fail of a trip). We swung in to 30 FOW on our troll back to the harbor hoping to maybe pick up a few straggler Skamania that hadn't ran in yet, but no such luck. However, there are massive schools of perch hanging out in 30 FOW off the shore from Central Beach all the way up to Mt. Baldy, and then some smaller schools closer to the harbor. We probably marked 20 different schools on our troll back in. The pic I'm posting was one of the larger ones.

Went to pull lines and the two outside walleye board rods with 2.5 and 3 color lead core both had dragger jumbos on them. I kept looking at the boards and thinking they were running weird, but I had the reel drag loose enough that any silver fish would have had the clickers screaming... Those were the only two rods I had spoons on. Also had a release on a rigger that was probably drug directly through the schools, however that was a flasher / fly combo and I have heavy offshore releases on them. Might have been a perch that ripped that as well.

Yeah, definitely should have had those and my perch gear on board. Won't make that mistake again!

Looks like tomorrow afternoon is gonna be the only time this weekend to get out there in calm water. Who knows what the wave action from the north winds over the last few days have done to the schools though.
