Thanks

I know of two people who were out today.

One out of Michigan City, who reported 6 small ones after a lot of searching and "drowning minnows" as he called it

One out of St Joe, who spent the last 2 days perch fishing for a total of 12 keepers

They are around (Michigan City guy marked a lot east of the lighthouse) but scattered and in a negative mood

Thanks for the info. Not what I wanted to hear but something. I'm fishing with another boat so we plan to divide and see what we can find. I will report my results.

Worked a lot of areas out of New Buffalo. Slow fishing. Ended with a dozen keepers with majority caught in 40-45 fow. Probably had 10 throwbacks. Also had a lot of gobies. No pattern and it seems they are scattered and moving around. Hopefully the nice weather continues and they will School up soon!

We fished saturday in South Haven again and it was pretty decent up there...ended up with 64 keepers, however fish were very scattered this time with LOTS of smaller fish. 40-45ft seemed to be best depth south down by the big dunes. Fish seem to be on gravel bottom mixed in with the gobies unfortunately, so you are playing the goby/perch game vs. not normally having to worry about that when you can catch the ones you can usually find on sand bottom. The schools were very small: you'd have to move after they shut down and find 'em again. According to the lady at the boat ramp, fishing has been really slow though, as she's seen very few fish cleaned lately. I think they are still there, just not as concentrated as before.

Sunday we hit Portage and that was a bust: caught about 10, all very small fish in the 4-6 inch range. What was interesting though is, there are some concentrations of fish there, as you'd get multiple follows when you'd catch one, the only thing I can think is they are just inactive at this point? Fished all over from the state park back to the mouth of the ditch and just a few here and there.

Something has to change soon on our perch I'd think. A few boats out trolling too I noticed, but that sounds like it's over also.
