I don't usually fish weekends but with the weather as messed up as it has been ya gotta get out when the weather allows.

South winds but rain on and off anyone else plan on going out this weekend? Not sure if the fish are still around.

I'm thinking about Saturday, but not sure yet.

I worked a long 12hr shift last night and when I got home my wife told me she took the day off and she wanted me to take her out on the lake perch fishing. I hooked the boat up and ran over the Anglers Outlet and picked up a few dozen large fatheads and took the 30 minute drive over to Portage Marina. We launched around 9am and motored over to my first waypoint and as I was zeroing in the bottom of the graph was loaded with fish. We dropped our lines and popped about a dozen 8" dink males. I told my wife this isn't going to be a good day! Well she had a good time plucking the dinks from 50fow and I was ready to go. Every waypoint I hit I marked fish and ended up with some small perch and a few gobies.

So to answer your question Dirty I believe the female perch have already spawned and they won't be back for a few weeks IMO. But ya never know you can head out in the morning and pound'em if you can find a open window from the rain and enjoy the south wind. A few guys out trolling in front of the port and around the muddy water at the mouth didn't get any fish.

Thanks poorboy - I think it will be silver in the am and try for gold in the pm. I will let ya know if I find anything worthwhile.
