Heard from 2 reliable sources that the bite was good in 30-40 feet between Portage and MC on Thursday. And the weather looks great for the next few days - get out there!

Buoy temps look great right now - in the 70s down to 16 feet, then in the high 60s to 30 feet, and under 60 once you get deeper than 43 feet.

For folks that haven't used the buoy much for helping with perch fishing, it's a great resource. When surface temps are in the 70s, I always start looking in whichever depth range the 64-68 degree water would be on the bottom. Sometimes they're not in that temp range, but usually a good starting point. Especially if there's a hard thermocline inside of 50 feet!

Yeah I also thought it'd take a week or more to turn back on after that north blow. It's not very often you have north winds and 9 foot waves, and the thermocline survives and recovers within a couple days!

I kept reloading the buoy page wondering if it was wrong!

Got out this morning, it was slow, but steady. The party was between 30' and 45' off the donut, over 15 boats when we packed it in.

Thank you for the information/post. Was out this morning out front of the mouth ditch and nothing. I pulled out my phone and saw your post. I needed east to the group of boats out front of the donut. With only deepfinder, not a fish finder, I anchored at 33-34 FOW. Put out two lines, was doing adjusting something in the boat then looked over, my beautiful ultralight yellow rod was bent right over . . . first of five, 10+ inchers plus a number of small ones. Packed up and headed home just after 11AM as bite was over where I was and out of fresh crappie minnows from Slez's. You made my day/trip because of your sharing post. Thank you!

P.S. Thnk you to Rye, a wonderful fellow fisherman with a large jon boat who gave me a jump as my car battery was dead.

Glad to hear you were able to get into some perch. I think we all know that a fellow fisherman or fisher woman to be politically correct is always willing to help out. Thanks to him. Rudey
