Fished the state park area and ended with 14.  A little discouraging at first because of the lack of perch boats but considering the water temp change we did alright.  Looking for schools was the ticket.  Best water 25-30 fow.

You’re a better man than me, Paddling.  Got out yesterday and launched out of Portage bout 2PM. Worked a wide pattern looking for perch. Turned left out of the mouth in the 20’/30’ range but never marked a fish. Continued to work a little more detailed pattern by the pumping station, where I sas another boat anchored, but nothing seen there either.  BTW, I’m new at this seeking out schools of perch on sonar, so take what I say with a grain... Ended up fishing N of  Burns to where the submerged breakwall is. Nailed a decent smallie at 40’ and lots of 5” fish...think they were bowfin. Saw a few boats out there still fishing as I headed back in but the guys I talked to heading out had no action on perch.
Bright skies were no encouragement, the the winds were ideal for setting up a controlled drift. BTW, saw no boat-groupings either.

Yep,  they surely were.
But can gobies be sign that other more desirable fish are in the area, or are they anywhere you seem to drop down some live bait?

Couldn’t agree more Wallin… add no rain to that and it’s just a ghost town. Typically we get south winds with the hot weather. This year I’ve seen multiple instance of 90 degree days with a North wind. I saw on the Chicago news last week that we’re sitting in 0.01” of rain for the month. There’s a couple fish in the creeks, but not enough fish or water to make it worth the time. Hopefully this gas turn around with the forecasted rain and cool down.
