TOPIC:

Went out of Hammond this morning about 6:30 AM and headed north to around the N55 marker. started out with a dink CoHo that we had to throw back (don't think it will survive but was below legal) before we finished setting lines. Then we had another reel that was just screaming but the clicker was off so by the time we noticed and got the rod, the fish snapped the line and was gone (we believe it was a King). Got the lines set and continued to troll North. Lines quiet so we turn around and go back to where we had the hits. Ended up going 7 for 9. I got 2 (TWO) Kings, both are starting to turn but both had plenty of fight left in them. We got two Coho around 30" that I threw back to let grow bigger since they came off the lures clean. I had a buddy with who has never been Salmon fishing who got one of the smaller CoHo then got a nice Coho and ended the day with a really nice Brown (we are pretty sure it was a brown but I need to go look at the pictures to confirm). One Coho came on an Orange Crush, the Brown was on a Big Weenie fly with a Mountain Dew Spin Dr. All the rest came either on a stinger Caramel Dolphin or a Magnum Caramel Dolphin (both Kings were on Mag). We were running high 50 to low 60 FOW just under 3 MPH running at 45 ft deep aprox. Both Kings were natural and both have been recorded on the site.

[Edit] The second lost fish was a nice Steelhead. He hit on the Big Weenie also and lost him on one of his jumps out of the lake. [\edit]

Thanks Jeff - was too tired to try and find where to do it.

By the way majority of the fish (all the ones we kept) were caught between like 11 am to 2 PM. Figured it would have been the slow part of the day so that was strange. We would have stayed even longer but the winds shifted and were starting to get South waves and small white caps. Was a long ride back.

Tough part of the day to bring fish in. You did well!
