thinking about fishing offshore this weekend has anyone heard any action at portage river walk park or Michigan city?

It is hunting season, so haven't been around Michigan City lakefront myself, but the guys I hear from second hand say it is slow - most getting skunked in harbor with only the occasional steelhead caught. Perch were caught by harbor guys a few days, too, including a limit of 8-inchers, but gone as soon as word got out.
Biologists netted some whitefish and lake trout in 40" outside MC lighthouse this week, so that is a possibility. However, water temp is still 53, which is quite warm for this time of year and a bit warm for those fish to get going well.

As of now you will not be fishing offshore this weekend. Maybe inside the harbor if you want to. Be sure to check the wave forcast. The forcast for this weekend is a guarantee drowning lol. Be safe out there. It's a bummer bc I wanted to get out too.
