We decided to hit Mich City this morning, and after yesterday evenings debate about whether it would be fishable or not, it was certainly very fishable, and quite nice out there at sunrise this morning. We set up outside the breakwall and made a easterly pass and had 3 coho in the first 20 minutes, and before all rods could be set. Well we thought...this is going to be easy. Unfortunately the next 5 hours produced 2 keepers, and 2 throwbacks. Just judging by what we saw visually, it was a very slow pick out there today. Was surprised to see 43-44 degree temps, the water really warmed up last week. We tried east and west of the lighthouse, and various depths from 14-50 fow. All the keeper hos came on thinfish and J-11's off the big boards. The two throwbacks came off riggers, one a small red/gold spoon, and the other a firetiger rapala shadrap.
The fish just seem awful small and skinny so far. I hope it's not a sign of things to come. Tough to get two decent filets off a 16" skinny coho.
Tomorrow looks like another nice day, good luck if you get out. Since we came back today, it will probably be lights out tomorrow.

We had similar results out of Michigan city today. Ended with five keeper Coho and 1 10 to 11 pound lake trout. We took fish on J 11, Thin fins, and dodger flies. Had a bunch that wouldn't stick.

Real fun, I also remember seeing you on the lake yesterday. If I'm not mistaken I may have met you at the salmon seminar at the Century Center this winter. Thanks for all your reports

Will be bringing my new boat down from Grandhaven next weekend. Look for a Chris-Craft commander named Nauti Lady. Of course my wife wants to change the name
