I'd like to drive up from Lafayette on Sunday, but am concerned about the water clarity after the big blow yesterday. Anyone have any idea what the water clarity is now, or will be by Sunday?
Thanks in advance,
Bordy

It's dirty. Really dirty. I'm not sure how much, if any, it will clear up by Sunday. Maybe someone will get out Saturday and report back.

fishing will probably be tough for a few days. Usually is after a big blow.

Just drove past the lake over by Buffington Harbor (near Pastrick Marina). Looks like watered down chocolate milk out there... Probably going to be a few days before it cleans up. The lake is definitely starting to calm down even from this morning at 6:15ish.

I cancelled the next couple days. I gave the people a choice, but don't really blame them for not wanting to go out in these tough conditions. When I do fish this ick, I have a couple of tricks which have paid off in the past.

1) If it doesn't rattle, it doesn't get tied on my line. RTs will work just fine. One exception is a Mepp's Spinner. They can be deadly! I like them behind a shallow diver, and will put one 7 & 7 (seven down-seven back behind a downrigger weight.) #4 Black Fury is my favorite - black/flo-red dots on the blade.

2) Go slow. 2.4 is too fast.

3) Fish the corners. These were current breaks the last few days. Gary Lighthouse, east end of the USX landfill, NW corner of port. 2nd and 3rd lights at Inland, Buffington Light.

4) All Fluorescent colors - save the silvers, purples etc. Go with red/orange/chartreuse.

Today, Friday, I drove by the lake to.take a peek. We're talking coffee with a lot of cream here. Perhaps it will settle down. Good luck, but keep checking.
