The crew on my boat had a rough 2 days of fishing on our trip to the lake. On 7/18 we got started early at the ditch mouth for steelhead fishing. We trolled repeatedly from out 30 feet all the way to the number4. Several hours passed with 0 hits. Even having Kelliann Bob on board could not help us. We had a skunk on board. We pulled lines and motored out to the state line and trolled around until 11 or so with no action and went in. Went back out later on up close and still no action. My new searunner tasted its first agony of defeat.
7/19 started the same way as the day before up close but this time only 1 trip from the beaches to the #4. Again no hits and we pulled lines and headed north to the tristate lines. Went west and north from there and started fishing. Had the lake to our selves until a freighter bared down on us. We trolled spoons and meat rigs out there and after a long bit of washing lures we got hit. Lost a coho at the boat. 5 minutes later same rigger popped and a nice coho came to the boat. We had found a scattered area of fish. We trolled the area we marked for another hour and a half with 6 more hits and 4 more fish for the livewell. The clock struck 11 and we had to pull lines and get back to the ramp by noon. One of the crew had to be home early. I think if I could have stayed several hours more we would have taken several limits. I had a first timer on board, Bob Kassenbrock and buddy Shane Gerth on the trip. I was sweating it thinking these guys are going home fishless. We had a waitress at Wagner's steak and bbq place do a skunk exorcism and a cootie- be-gone ritual for us and I guess it worked.
Here is a few pics.

I had a good time fishing with you guys and to be able to check out the new boat. It is a very nice boat. I think you will be happy with it for many years. Great job finding some fish the next day.

I'm sure you had to enjoy being out on the new boat no matter the outcome. Still ended up looking like a great time, way to go Don! Rudey

Nice work Don

Sorry I did not recognize you right away Jeff when you were waving. My eyes ain't what they need to be. Plus it was hard to see through those watery eyes that were blurred by the spray of that darned skunk.

Glad day 2 was a better day for you Don. I heard the fish were saying, "look out here comes that new Hewes craft again"!:)

We had a lot of fun for about an hour and 30 minutes of our 5 hour trip. The boat does very well on the lake Ed, it is a far superior ride and certainly a more capable craft than my Alumacraft Trophy was. You might be right about the fish though, that might explain why they left Indiana water. But someone should have told them I have an Illinois license!
