I was out Sunday in the area looking for perch, but another guy who I touched bases with at the Marina was out at the same time for lakers. I got nothing and saw nothing on my fish finder and the last time I saw the other guy he had got nothing.

Just a heads up, I will say Iwas NOT on the reef. Out of respect to others fishing the area, Im not going to say where. But, I was in Indiana waters and generally speaking if they’re showing up in one area they’ll be in other productive areas too. I spent my morning prepping some salmon eggs to use for whitefish, going to give it a shot this afternoon. Probably a little early but they don’t seem to mind dirty water and you never know til you try. I know when the lakers start dropping eggs those whites will be right there with them.

Any luck with the white fish? I’ve been thinking about targeting them also.

Are you eating the whitefish?

They're great eating. You can bake, grill, fry, saute, whatever. They are excellent eating. Best fresh. I smoke most of mine that end up going in the freezer

Thanks. I always eat them when up in Door County where they are so plentiful. Great tasting fish cooked or smoked. Excellent choice for a fish boil.
