It has been a very busy summer for me but I was able to fish three of the four HCC tournaments and ended up in 12th place. being one of the smallest (possibly the smallest boat) that fished the tourney and only my second season fishing it, it was not too bad. Learned some lessons so all and all a good experience.

Now for the good stuff. I mainly fished from New Buffalo and St Joe since June since I can trailer in and get to the 100 FOW a lot quicker and they have less crowded and nicer launches and facilities then the Southend. We did really well out of NB in July with a few nice Steelhead and a King but unfortunately I lost a really nice king first thing. In August we fished St Joe and ended up with a 14 lbs King during a prefishing day and then a 21.5 lbs king on Saturday tournament day. Since I didnt really target lakers or even really like catching them, I only weighed a few of them across the 3 tournaments that I participated in. Most silver came on Spin Dr and Fly with one on a silver horde plug. 21.5 was my personal and boat record so over all it has been a good year. I hope to find some staging kings before it is all over.

The last picture in the first post is the 14 lbs king. The fish was great to catch but then to really highlight the ending of the day, there was a family launching a pleasure boat as we were pulling out. When the kids seen me pull the King out for the picture they came over and starting asking a bunch of questions about where we caught it and they wanted to touch it, etc. The mother came up and said the older one was their little fisherman (he was maybe 10 years old) and was talking to us about the fish and so told her a bunch about salmon fishing in lake Michigan. They were from Chicago so I told her she should come out in the spring and have her son fish the south end of the lake since the fishing is really good (although much smaller fish generally). They then proceeded to ask if they could watch us clean the fish (which we said yes of course). It ended up with the entire family watching us clean the fish and asking more questions. It really was a highlight to see the kids get so excited and then the parents seem to take an interest as well.
